What is a Site Plan?
A site plan is just that, a simple little layout of how you want your site. The internet is very dynamic, and your site design may end up changing. That is ok, you should find some of the ideas your site will be based around and how to organize it.
Focus Your Site
One of the biggest problems people run into while making a website are that they try to capture too large of a market. They make these huge sites which are hard to navigate and do not flow together. Certainly I could have done a better job with this site.
When You do Not Use a Site Plan
This causes frustration to the end user as they hunt for where they need to go and become confused as they can not find their way around your site because you did not take the time to make a site plan.
Example Site Plan
- topic one for site plan
- subtopic one for site plan
- subtopic two for site plan
- subtopic three for site plan
2. Topic two for site plan ...and so on the following topics are a must!
3. About us - brief company history (why it was formed, who we are, why we are the best for you, thanks for your interest...)
4. Contact us - this should usually be a form page as it appears extremely professional relative to an external email program being called up. Some people have the about us and contact us on the same page.
5. FAQ - these add confidence in the eyes of your prospective consumers.

Focus Your Site
You can't be the best at everything. A site does not have to be big, it just has to be the best and best marketed at what it does. Let's say you wanted to start an all natural store. Maybe you can start off with herbal teas, then move on to vitamins, hemp clothing ... It is too easy to lose focus. Make a site plan and stick with it. Become the best. Then grow!
