Splash Page

Splash Page - page used with multiple things changing on it that is geared to impress the end user. A splash page usually has little readable content on it to be indexed by search engines.

Using a splash page may be a good idea if you are a web designer and want to show off for future potential clients. I can think of few good actual applications of a splash page for the home page though. Generally splash pages are used to show off ego. The back button is one of the most frequently used items on web browsers. Splash pages are part of the reason why that is true.
