How Not to Request a Link

This is the perfect example of how not to request a link as it is highly automated and it is one I pulled out of my email account. JUNK MAIL

I am emailing to ask if you are interested in
swapping links with us?

I came across your site and thought that you
might be interested in a link exchange.

links increase your rank in search engines.
Below I have listed the site which I own and
would like to exchange links with you.

Our information is listed below.

Again, feel free to use this, but it is how not to request a link. If your link seems impersonal (and especially if it seems machine generated) then the person is not going to exchange links unless they are not worth exchanging links with.
