Around the Web (news):

Google filed their financials

Google Sandbox Effect: Google is believed to have began to issue only partial credit from certain links. These filters can be based upon link age, IP, and a variety of other factors.

Older links are believe to be grandfathered in, but newer links can still pass PageRank, but not issue their full help in search result rankings. This move is believed to be in response to the recent rash of link buying / renting.

This new type of link processing will make it way more expensive to blatantly manipulate search results.

Tool of the Week: Two of them to make up for last week's non existent issue.

1. Proogle - Free tool allows you to search Google search results with PageRank displayed. This is especially useful for backlink research. Based on branding and automated queries this will probably be taken down rather soon.
Try Proogle

2. PR Prowler - browser based software tool which allows you to scour backlinks and organize them by PageRank. Works similar to OptiLink (without a couple of the more advanced features), but costs less than half the price of OptiLink ($97). PR Prowler works in it's own browser in the background while you still surf the web. If you look at his site I am one of the testimonials listed there :) His software is pretty handy for the price. If you were debating on whether or not OptiLink was right for you then you may want to give PR Prowler a try. Like most good software, PR Prowler comes with a 90 day money back guarantee. (I am an affiliate of PR Prowler)

Random happening of the Week

While flying out to LA my roommate said that he liked the window seat so he could watch the planes. He meant the hydraulic or mechanical planes on the wings. He spelt it out to me P-L-A-N-E-S before he realized both types of planes had the same spelling. I teased him the rest of the trip.
