Add a Link

Step 6: Web Site Submission

Step 7: Add a Link

To understand the web you must understand the importance of the hyperlink (link). As time goes on search engines will become more and more complex and cluster sites together with greater ease. If you make a quality site it should be easy to have other sites link to you.

If you want free links it is a good idea to submit to the major directories. (will open in new window) Beyond submitting to directories it is not easy to get quality links unless you have a quality web site.

With that being said you should understand that your web site is not all inclusive. You should let other people "add a link." Your link page should not be a free for all, but you should have a link to allow link suggestions. Most good web sites have a small directory of their own to aid the end user experience and allow link exchange between other quality web sites. It also adds value to your user experience if you have some links which are in the text of your site.

Many junk link farm links will cause the search engines to cluster your site with junk web sites. If you add a link to their sites you do not become associated with them, but they will send you spam email. If you link back to a bad site then you are associated with them.

Do research to find other quality sites. This is easier than it sounds. Download the Google toolbar with advanced features and do not link to any site with a gray page rank.
